Annie Clavel is a French artist. She has been living in California since November 2006.
"Being a contemporary painter requires a step into the abstraction, I took such a step a long time ago, when studying mathematics, imagining colorful mathematical concepts. At that time however, I was not ready to paint abstract and began painting representational work in watercolor and acrylic.
My present work explores relationships between colors, shapes, light and movement in a visual language that is at once intellectual and emotionally charged. I let my instinct and intuition guide my work to capture the magic of the moment.
I tend to create works that express what I'm feeling about the world and my existence, about mathematics and life, abstraction and representation.
I've lived in many places in France, Germany, Tunisia, and California, I've learned various languages and have been immersed in diverse cultures. I dream to represent the colorful diversity of life in this world with all its joys and failures."
